What holidays will the Library & Archives be closed in 2024?
The Library & Archives will be closed on the following dates (the Library & Archives is closed every Monday; research hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
- Monday, January 1 -- New Year’s Day
- Monday, January 15 – Martin Luther King Day
- Monday, February 19 – Presidents’ Day
- Friday, March 29 – Good Friday
- Monday, May 27 – Memorial Day
- Wednesday, June 19 -- Juneteenth
- Thursday, July 4 – Independence Day
- Monday, September 2 – Labor Day
- Monday, November 11– Veterans Day
- Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 – Thanksgiving*
- Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25 – Christmas**
- Tuesday, December 31 – New Year’s Eve (state offices will also be closed for New Year’s Day on Wedesday, January 1, 2025)
*Pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-4-105(a)(3), the Governor has designated that the Columbus Day holiday shall be substituted for the Friday after Thanksgiving.
**The Governor has approved an additional day of closure, the day before Christmas Eve to observe the holiday.
